Destin, Florida 2013

Early Saturday morning, July 6, Wyatt and I headed out with MiMi and KPaw to pick Aunt Whit and Uncle Dave up before we began the road trip to Florida. We left at about 3:00 am - I had hopes of us driving most of the way while Wyatt slept. Although he didn't sleep as much as I had anticipated he was a pretty good little traveler.

Upon arrival to our condo we were told our room wasn't quite ready yet. So, we made the most of our time and headed to eat at Tropical Smoothie and walk around the Destin Commons. Wyatt loved this - he played in the water/park area of the mall. I think everyone also enjoyed watching Wyatt play in the water. When the water would temporarily stop spraying he would shrug his shoulders and arms as if to say I don't know where it went. Too cute! A few times he would look down in the hole - lucky for him his timing was off and the water never splashed him in the face.

It wasn't too long until we got the phone call that our room was ready. After checking out the room we put Wyatt's swimsuit on him and headed down to check out the beach.

Headed to the beach!
Playing in the sand!
LOVE this sweet boy!

The next morning we got up, ate some breakfast and headed back down to the beach again! The waves were awesome - big and perfect for some boogie board action. It wasn't long before Uncle Dave bought a board.

Are you trying to catch some rays, Aunt Whit?!
Oh, I thought you were playing/wrestling with me!

After several hours at the beach we cleaned up, ate lunch and headed out for some shopping and dinner! I love to shop in Destin, especially at the Outlet Mall! After we made it back from shopping and eating we went back down to the beach. I bought Wyatt a cute little Mickey flashlight to hunt crabs...he had other plans for it - like throwing it in the ocean. Poor little Mickey just doesn't work the same now.

Sweet little beach booty!
Wyatt learned a new word on this trip - "up." He has been trying so hard to jump and also associated "up" with going up the stairs in the condo to the loft. MiMi and KPaw bought Wyatt a stuffed puppy dog for the trip that says, "I'm getting very sleepy" when you push the button on its paw. They heard this puppy over and over again every night as Wyatt was laying down to go to sleep. Wyatt also started saying, "night, night" in the sweetest little voice. It is something new and fun everyday!

Tuesday morning we played some more on the beach!

Tuesday night we had dinner at Tijuana Flatts. We all loved it - the food is so good especially on Taco Tuesday. Wyatt LOVED the cheese dip. That's all he had for dinner and loved every minute of it!

Cheese!!!
Say cheese!
Yummy cheese dip!
After dinner we went to Harborwalk Village for the Party Gras Parade. It was a fun time checking out the stores and other interesting vendors. We also met some pirates!

Life is good!

Thursday was a rainy day at the beach. So, we made the best of it and went to the movie theater to see Monsters University. We all enjoyed the movie and Wyatt got a nice little nap.

Waiting for the movie to start

After the movie and some more shopping the rain moved out so we dressed up and headed down to the beach for some pictures!

Wyatt photo bombing the pictures!
The CUTEST picture ever! LOVE this boy!

After pictures we went to eat at The Back Porch - a nice little seafood restaurant on the beach.

Friday morning we took Whitney and David to pick up their rental car. They headed out to Orlando to watch Aubrey compete in the Miss Junior High America Pageant. She looked beautiful in the pictures they shared with us and won Miss Congeniality. I know they were proud of their sweet girl!

Wyatt was sad that they left. When we were in the condo he would go their room and shrug his shoulders as if to say he didn't know where they went.

After dropping Whit and Dave off we did some shopping and then went to the beach in the afternoon.

These little lagoons made the perfect play place for Wyatt!
Playing with MiMi!
Throwing sand again!
Love his little smirk!

Mommy's turn!

Checking out some shells!
Saturday morning we loaded up the Expedition and began our trek back to Arkansas leaving behind an absolutely wonderful time in Florida.

We stayed in a nice condo with a loft -  the place Wyatt and I slept. Luckily, Wyatt did not realize he could throw things over the railing downstairs until our last night. He loved waking up in the morning, standing up on the bed and saying hi to whoever he could see downstairs. It was nice waking up to a yummy breakfast cooked by Chef KPaw every morning! While we were in the room Wyatt and David spent a lot of their time running the circle that connected the bathroom to the bedroom and the hallway. David would scare Wyatt by jumping out of the shower or from around the corner. Wyatt loved it and kept going back for more. Wyatt also enjoyed being right next to Whitney as she got ready everyday. They made faces in the mirror and fixed Wyatt's hair with the blowdryer!

David teased Wyatt by saying "ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, you have to take a nap!" It wasn't too long before Wyatt started throwing in his own "ha-ha." It was too funny the first time he said it - actually it still is pretty funny!

Wyatt and I had a great time! We are so thankful to MiMi and KPaw for letting us tag along - we enjoyed every minute of it!

Wyatt was a good passenger on the trip home - we listened to songs and watched Mickey and Veggie Tales. He was so ready to see Daddy - he told us a lot! I was ready to see Daddy, too! We missed him! Josh met us at MiMi and KPaw's. Wyatt ran to the car as Josh pulled in the driveway - too sweet!

After I spent the week on the beach in Florida I came home to tinted windows on the Mustang and a whole new wardrobe for school this fall! I was so surprised and thankful for a loving thoughtful husband! He really is the best!

We had an awesome trip and made some awesome memories! Thanks MiMi and KPaw!
