We recently visited Dr. Blair for Wyatt's 2 year old check-up. He was such a good boy and sat perfectly still as Dr. Blair listened to his heart, looked in his ears, eyes, and mouth, and checked out his reflexes. Wyatt measured 36.5" long and he weighed 29 pounds 11 ounces. He is in the 91st percentile for height and 61st for weight! He's shaping up just like his daddy! He referred to Dr. Blair as "Doc" and begged her, "pease, pease, pease" for the wooden sticks she used to check out his mouth.
Wyatt has now started calling me "mom" instead of "momma" and he calls Josh "Dadt" (he's very good at enunciating sounds) instead of "dada." I try to remind him that we are momma and dada, but he prefers the other. He is so proud of new things he does and wants us to watch him do new things or silly things that he finds so funny. The conversation usually goes something like this:
Wyatt: Mom....Mom....Moooommmmmmm!
Me: Yes, Wyatt.
Wyatt: Watch
Me: Oh, that's awesome! You did a great job!
Wyatt: I did it! (giggling and so proud!)
His vocabulary is expanding daily! Some of my new favorites are "tank chu" (thank you) and "it's tute" (it's cute). He has learned the appropriate times to say please and thank you and it melts my heart hearing him especially when he doesn't have to be told. He loves babies and tells me they are cute when he sees one. It's the sweetest thing! He has also been saying "no no" for quite some time, but I have never heard a "no no" sweeter even when he is refusing to do what is being asked of him. He also says church, Jesus (and can also sign Jesus, too), spoon ('poon), trash, milk, coke (we have to remind him he drinks juice not coke), and he's learning colors. Wyatt says "Mines" when referring to something he wants or something that is his. He loves his cowboy boots and is very good at putting them on by himself. He wears them with everything and sometimes nothing!
Wyatt is very good at blessing our meals. He reminds everyone to pray before we eat and will call you out if you do not have your hands folded properly or if you have not made it to the table yet. He says Amen at the end of the prayer and sometimes requests we bless the food more than once. Sweet boy!
Wyatt is becoming Mr. Independent these days. He can now open twist lids on his own along with the refrigerator and pantry cabinet. If he is hungry he goes to the refrigerator or cabinet to get what he wants! He is such a good helper around the house. He begs to take the trash outside when he notices me changing the bags out and he loves to load and unload the dishwasher. He knows how to put the soap in the tray, close it, and turn the dial to start it up. Also, he likes loading the washing machine, putting the soap in the tray, and starting the wash cycle. After the clothes are washed he enjoys throwing the wet clothes into the dryer. It's comical to watch because he literally throws the clothes as our dryer is stacked on top of the washer. We can't forget the vacuum cleaner. Wyatt loves to vacuum and use the attached hose to clean up messes! He can do all of these things with very little assistance! If he hears us talking about something we need to do or get he says, "Oh, I get it!"
When I am brave enough to venture to Wal-Mart with him, our first stop is usually to the big snack bin in the middle of the aisle so he can pick out a "nack." This is a bribery tool meant to keep him in the buggy. It usually gives me about 10 minutes, if I'm lucky. Then we spend the rest of the shopping trip wrestling the buggy while I hold Wyatt and attempt to put things into the buggy from the shelves! Whew! It's definitely a workout!
Every time we drive by a gas station Wyatt lets us know by shouting gas! He puts gas in his toy lawn mower before he helps cut the grass and when his tractor battery dies he lets us know by telling us it needs gas. Smart boy!
Wyatt loves ball...any kind of ball! He loves kicking the ball outside, shooting hoops, and watching football on TV. He requests to watch football sometimes over Mickey Mouse. He stares intensely at the TV and sometimes claps and yells. He runs around the room re-enacting the plays making sure we watch every move. He loves watching NBA highlights on Daddy's phone, too. Wyatt is already working on his shooting form and will show you his "fish hook" (follow through) when you ask him to do so.
Recently, Wyatt shouted my name from the kitchen. Recall, "Mom, Mom, Mooommmm!" I turned the corner to find him sitting in his highchair! The little monkey climbed up the chair and sat down in it all by himself and he was so proud. Now, he has to get it in by himself every time. He has also recently learned how to take his clothes of by himself. Josh and I laughed while watching him figure out how to get his shirt off...he thought he could pull it down around his legs. It didn't take him long to figure out how to get it over his head. Now, you are very likely to walk in the toy room to a naked baby! Oh no! Speaking of "Oh no," that is another cute thing Wyatt says. He also says "Oh my!"
Wyatt is very observant as we drive. When we get close to our house he shouts "HOME!" with his hands in the air. He also knows that when we turn left in to Shiloh after coming off the bypass we are at MiMi and PawPaw's house. When we approach GiGi's house house he says, "GiGi" and points at her house. He also knows MiMi's school and Mrs. Sylvia's neighborhood.
Potty training....Wyatt has had many successes on the potty and is very good at telling us when he needs to "poo poo" or "pee pee." I don't think it will be too much longer before he is fully trained.
We had Wyatt's two year old pictures made at a field right down the road from our house. He wasn't exactly in the picture taking mood, but we did end up with some really cute shots!

We kicked Wyatt's birthday off by waking him up early with a pancake breakfast on his special celebrate plate!

I love his expression in this picture!
After pancakes we opened a few presents! Wyatt tore into the wrapping paper like a champ! I can tell holidays and birthdays will never be the same now!
Daddy was excited to get Wyatt his first Hot Wheels Track!
I was concerned he wouldn't be able to operate it....Boy, was I wrong! He knew exactly what to do and was excited about it!!!
Helping daddy put the track together!
Checking out his car case!
"oooo cars!"
Pow!
Josh and Wyatt love playing with the track. It didn't take Wyatt long at all to figure out how to turn the track on and off and how to make the cars change to different parts of the track. MiMi and KPaw brought over Josh's old car set (a case of 100 cars) and Wyatt loves playing with them and figuring out which ones work best with his track.
After a short playtime we all got dressed a headed out to start the day. Wyatt took cupcakes to Mrs. Sylvia's to share with Bailey and Griffin. Mrs. Sylvia made the day all about Wyatt. They ate his favorite lunch and he got to wear the "I'm the birthday boy" pin. Mrs. Sylvia also gave him a cool Planes lego set.
After Wyatt's 2 year old pictures we headed to Vaquero's, a mexican restaurant, for more birthday fun with Aunt Whitty, Uncle Dave, MiMi, KPaw and Aunt Carol! We ate here on Wyatt's 1st birthday, too! Some of the restaurant workers came to sing Wyatt "Happy Birthday" and let him wear the sombrero. He was not excited about this, so Josh and I got to enjoy the fun instead!

After dinner we went to MiMi and KPaw's house for some cake and presents! Wyatt loved blowing out the birthday candle so much that I think we relit it about 4 times!
